Upgrade your drum agglomerator with Shore D polyurethane casting thrust wheels. Eliminate riding ring damage, absorb severe shock loads, and reduce maintenance costs in mining and heap leaching operations.
In heavy industries such as mining, iron ore pelletizing, and fertilizer/powder processing, an agglomeration drum (or agglomerator) uses a slowly rotating, inclined large cylinder equipped with internal lifters and spray systems to agglomerate fine ore powders into permeable, uniformly sized pellets. Because the drum is typically installed at an inclination angle of 1.5° to 5° and its own dead weight combined with the internal ore can reach tens or even hundreds of tons, the equipment generates a massive downward axial thrust force during operation. Therefore, thrust wheels must be installed within the support framework to block the drum's riding rings, prevent axial downward slippage, and ensure precise axial positioning.
Traditional heavy-duty drum agglomerators often utilize hardened steel thrust wheels. Although steel rollers offer extremely high load-bearing capacity, they frequently lead to the following engineering issues under harsh mining conditions:

Rigid Contact Causing Premature Damage to Riding Rings and Bearings: Metal-on-metal hard contact results in extreme stress concentration. When the drum undergoes slight deflection due to uneven material distribution or thermal expansion, steel thrust rollers easily bite, score, or gouge the expensive riding rings (tyres).
Lack of Cushioning, Direct Transmission of Shock Loads to the Drive System: During leaching or agglomeration, sudden material collapses and cascading inside the drum generate severe periodic axial shocks. Rigid steel rollers transmit these impact forces directly to the base and bearings, shortening the overall service life of the machine.
High Noise Levels and Extremely Strict Installation Precision Requirements: The harsh metallic screeching caused by friction between steel rollers and riding rings severely impacts the workshop environment, and even minor alignment deviations can lead to severe wear and tear.
Thrust rollers manufactured from high-performance cast polyurethane provide an ideal "elastic heavy-duty support" solution for heavy-duty drum agglomerators:

Perfect Balance of High Load Capacity and Elastic Deformation: Specially formulated for heavy industries with a hardness of Shore D 60–75, cast polyurethane can withstand sustained axial thrust loads of tens of tons while providing moderate elastic deformation to effectively absorb transient impacts and vibrations during drum operation.
Protection of Expensive Main Riding Rings (Tyres): Utilizing polyurethane as the contact surface maintains a stable coefficient of friction, minimizing scratching or wear on the main metal riding rings of the drum and significantly extending the service life of core components.
Self-Centering and Error-Tolerance Capabilities: The flexibility of polyurethane automatically compensates for minor axial deflections and runouts generated by the drum under heavy loads, reducing rigorous demands on on-site installation and alignment precision.
Corrosion Resistance and Adaptation to Mining Industry: Heap leaching and agglomeration processes often involve acid/alkaline spray solutions or high-humidity dust environments. Cast polyurethane exhibits exceptional resistance to acids, alkalis, hydrolysis, and mineral oils—preventing the aging and swelling typical of ordinary rubber, as well as the rusting associated with metals.
Reduced Maintenance Costs for Large Components: Compared to replacing entire drum riding rings or welding/repairing the structural frame, the cost of periodically inspecting or replacing polyurethane thrust roller bushings is extremely low with minimal downtime.
Enhanced Equipment Uptime: Significantly reduces unplanned shutdowns caused by axial deflection jamming or bearing overheating, ensuring continuous high-capacity output for heap leaching and agglomeration production lines.
Significant Noise Reduction and Eco-Friendly Production: Eliminates the harsh noise of metal-on-metal impacts, improving the working environment in mining and powder processing workshops.
